MAYA GOERTEMOELLER
About Me
My name is Maya Goertemoeller, and I am a fourth-year medical sciences major in the Connections BS/MD program at the University of Cincinnati minoring in psychology and integrative health! Through the humanism-centered curriculum of this program, I have had the privilege and responsibility to delve into the essence of who I am beyond being a pre-medical student. My involvement in community-based mental health advocacy and on-campus involvement in DEI initiatives have been transformative experiences that have fostered my growth as an empathetic leader and a creative problem solver. The abundant opportunities available at UC to engage in meaningful initiatives have instilled in me a deep sense of purpose in my pre-medical journey, teaching me that being a compassionate human being is the foundation for becoming a better physician. Rooted in authenticity and empathy, I look forward to embarking on the next phase of my academic journey with a passion for continuous growth and a commitment to making a positive impact in the field of medicine.
MY MESSAGE
College has taught me that growth is far from linear, but in the lowest moments of my path, I learned the most about "who I am and who I want to become." I was beyond honored to share this lesson at the University of Cincinnati 2021 Convocation. As my time at UC continues to break me "open", I hope to "stay rooted in the idea that even in failure, there is beauty, and in this beautiful failure comes growth."
