Self-Conducted Research
The loss of my consistent sport as a result of COVID-19 had a tremendous negative impact on my overall well-being, and unfortunately, I know that many of my peers faced the exact same thing. This research project was inspired by these obstacles that I am continuing to overcome, and it helps bring to light the shared experiences that demonstrate how every aspect of our lives were affected in this crisis. The majority of the students I spoke with said that their mental and physical health worsened, overall well-being and self-image declined, and many even went on to say that they developed/worsened a mental health issue. Now that my peers and I have seen what life is like without our consistent sport and, in general, what life looks like without following the “normal” sequence of events, we have gained an unparalleled sense of appreciation for our sports and exercise in general, as well as new perspectives that have shaped us into more resilient leaders and flexible thinkers.
